Elections

Divide the nation into 6 regional voting districts during the primaries. Each of the candidates will campaign and debate in each of the 6 regional district for 30 days. After  the 30 days of debating and campaigning are completed, the citizens of  the 6 regional districts will vote to choose their respective political  party candidate.  All campaigns will start no earlier than one year prior to the next general elections.

Every 4 year cycle, each of the 6 regional voting districts will rotate the voting order of the regional district. This  will ensure a fresh and different perspective in the will of the people  in the selecting of candidates in the primary elections.

It is time we take a look at capping the number of people, each Member of the House of Representatives represents. Adding  a cap on the number of people represented will call for an increase the  number of Members in the House of Representatives. Instead  of states losing seats in the Halls of Congress, as populations shift,  but increase, based on the cap in proportional representation, states  will only need to add new Members to the House of Representatives.  

A winner-take-all scenario in the general election has proven to be an Achilles Heel to a shifting population. Candidates  are focusing on winning key states, thus not campaigning in the smaller states or spending little, if no time in particular states. It is time we take a look at the “electoral college” and figure out a way to best represent the will of the people. 

Corporations,  Unions, and the Citizens will be able to donate a “capped” amount of  dollars during the “primary only” campaign of an individual seeking  their respective parties’ nomination for the general election. 

All  candidates in the general election will receive an “equal capped”  amount of federal funded tax dollars to run their campaigns for the  general elections. No monies received in the primary elections will be used for the general elections. All  monies not used in the primary elections will be used to fund the  general election, to be divided evenly among the candidates.  

The  day of the general election needs to be a federal holiday, whereas all  voting citizens will be able to have the day off with pay to exercise  their right to vote! Since October has no significant federal holiday, it may be best to move the general election to the last Tuesday of the month. All voting stations will be monitored by federal election officials to  ensure no voters are disenfranchised in exercising their right to vote.  Each  party, who has a candidate in the general election will also need to be  present at each voting station to be equally represented and shall receive a stipend for the work. The monies for the stipend will come from the kitty of the “primary elections.”

It is the duty of the voters to get out there and exercise their right to vote. With a federal holiday to get out the vote, the nation should receive at least a 90 percent voter turnout! The people will no longer have an excuse to say, “my vote does not count.” Voter turnout is the key to the integrity and the prosperity of the nation as a whole. “We the People.”

Vice President of the United States

The role of the Vice President will not change! However, it will be the job of the Vice-President to promote the general welfare of the nation. The Vice-President will conduct town-hall type meetings with the citizens to ensure the people that the President and Members are Congress are doing their job representing the people. The Vice-President will hear the positive and negative issues from the people and report back to the President and Congress.

Department of State

The role of the Dept of State will represent the United States on the world stage! The role of the Secretary of State will be to promote and encourage democracy around the world! The Dept of State will secure free-trade agreements with other nations, but the Dept of Commerce will negotiate the agreements on behalf of the United States.

Department of the Treasury

The role of the Dept of Treasury will be to protect the United States from theft and fraud!  The Dept of Treasury will protect the United States currency. The Dept of Treasury will oversee the United States Secret Service. The Secret Service will always remain under the authority of the Dept of Treasury in order to prevent undue influences from the Dept of Homeland Security. 

Department of Defense

The role of the Dept of Defense is to protect the United States from threats abroad and not within its own borders. The responsibility of the Dept of Defense is to ensure that all combat troop will only be put in harms way for a noble and just cause! It is the duty of the Dept of Defense to secure, if necessary, the strategic interests of the world, if needed with explicit authorization from the United Nations General Assembly.

Department of Justice

The role of the Dept of Justice will be to enforce existing laws to protect the citizenry!  The United States can no longer afford to settle for blind justice. All laws will be enforced to protect all citizens and used to prosecute all citizens, no exceptions. No individual or corporation is above the United States Constitution.

Department of the Interior

The role of the Dept of the Interior will be to maintain and protect the nation’s infrastructure. The Dept of Interior will promote tourism and the exploration of the hidden wonders that are located within the United Sates. The Dept of the Interior will secure all national resources within our borders without harm to the environment or the people. 

Department of Agriculture

The role of the Dept of Agriculture will be to protect and help increase the nation’s food supply.  It is the responsibility of the Dept of Agriculture to maintain an adequate food supply for the nation and to increase agricultural output for the export market to help stabilize the food supply for the world. It is the responsibility of the Dept of Agriculture to inspect all foods coming into the United States to secure and maintain an adequate food supply for the citizenry.

Department of Commerce

The role of the Dept of Commerce will be to promote free and fair trade with other nations and their resources! The Dept of State will secure free-trade agreements with other nations, but the Dept of Commerce will negotiate these agreements on behalf of the United States.

Department of Labor

The role of the Dept of Labor will be to protect and enforce the labor laws of all wage earners in the United States! If needed, the Labor Dept will act as the arbiter between corporations and the unions or non-unions representing wage earners. The Dept of Labor will also promote safe labor practices at home and abroad. 

Department of Health and Human Services

The role of the Dept of Health and Human Services will be to protect the citizenry from pharmaceutical companies to make sure that medicines are designed to heal the citizenry. It will be the role of the Dept of HHS to develop programs for natural and herbal remedies to reduce the burden on the taxpayer providing care for the sick, dying and unhealthy.

Department of Housing and Urban Development

The role of the Dept of Housing and Urban Development will be to enforce the laws to ensure all US citizenry have access to decent and affordable housing. It will be the role of the Dept of HUD that all citizens have the right to own a home, live in a decent neighbor and be safe within their communities. It will be the responsibility of HUD to make sure homes and rents remain affordable to the citizenry.
 

Department of Transportation

The role of the Dept of Transportation will be to maintain, update and upgrade the modes of transportation to keep the citizenry moving in a safe and expedited manner on a daily basis. The Dept of Transportation will work with private industry to upgrade highways, waterways, train tracks, bus depots and cars garages.
 

Department of Energy

The role of the Dept of Energy will be to seek cheaper and alternative means to fossil fuels. It will be the job of the Dept of Energy to upgrade the nation’s electrical grid system in cooperation with business to ensure an adequate supply of cheaper energy needs to help the nation grow and prosper!
 

Department of Education

The role of the Dept of Education will be to ensure all schools are adequately funded and properly maintained. It will be the responsibility of the Dept of Education to maintain a high level of training of the nation’s teacher and to ensure all teachers are tested in their respectful fields every four years. It will also be the role of the Dept of Education that all the nation’s students can compete on the international level.  

Department of Veterans Affairs

The role of the Dept of Veterans Affairs will be to make sure all members of military receive adequate medical care, benefits and retirement. This applies to all active, former and retired military personnel. All military personnel serving in combat will adequately be compensated for their duties. In the event of death in a combat role, the spouse and children of said military personnel will be provided for in some capacity by the federal government.

Department of Homeland Security

Get rid of it! The Dept of Homeland Security serves no purpose! Expand the role of the Coast Guard, as it is already an agency that patrols the borders, since the founding of the United States.  The FBI is already responsible for protecting and securing the internal security within the nation’s borders.

White House Interim Chief of Staff

The responsibility of the White House Interim Chief of Staff will keep the President and Congress in constant contact with each other with upcoming negotiations involving all political parties, in matters of budget, amendments, appropriation bills and national security.

Environmental Protection Agency

The responsibility of the Environmental Protection Agency will be to protect the citizenry and the environment for which we live! All companies producing pollution bi-products will be heavily monitored and regulated by the EPA. The EPA, along with the scientific community will find ways to reduce the levels of pollution that are now ravaging our planet.  

Office of Management & Budget

The responsibility of the Office of Management and Budget will be to ensure all spending stays within the constitutional requirements set for by the people for the fiscal year. Any and all discretionary spending by the President must be approved by Congress. It will be the responsibility of the OMB to explain to Congress any and all budget deficits for the upcoming fiscal year.
 

United States Trade Representative

The main responsibility will be to ensure fair labor practices are enforced through the World Trade Organization. The Trade Representative will report to the President, in which the President will report to Congress. Congress shall determine the actions, sanctions or tariffs implemented on nations that do not live up to the world trade agreements!
 

United States Ambassador to the United Nations

The Ambassador will represent the best interests of the United States on the world stage. It is the responsibility of the Ambassador to the UN to make sure the United States respects and operates within the interests of the world body. The role of the Ambassador to the UN will promote peace and prosperity around the world.  
 

Council of Economic Advisers

The role of the Council of Economic Advisers will be made up of business and labor leaders to adapt and adjust to current market changes and demands to keep America competitive in a changing world. Strategies, plans and funding will be formulated to ensure business and labor will be ready for any and all changes coming in a global market.
